The Official Waste Segregation Launch of Colombo Schools & Environment Day Activities for the year 2013 is scheduled to take place on the 10th of June 2013 at the Navaranghala, in line with the World Environment Week.

The Academic Staff, EDEX Think Green members,Student Leaders, Scouts and the newly formed ‘Environmental Pioneers’ movement were present at the meeting held today (3rd June) to be briefed by Mr. Aruna De Silva (Royal College Hostel Warden) and Mr. Rohan Weerasekera (Royal College Scout Master) who are heading this initiative on how the further advancements to an already working waste management system will be implemented.

The proposed Waste Segregation System will be implemented in the coming weeks and will not be restricted to any singular student body, but will be a long term programme featuring all members of College that will be aimed at changing the mind set of the Sri Lankan population to a more environmentally friendly one. In light of the recent rise in dengue fever cases, the Principal Mr. Upali Gunasekera had this to say; “It is Royal College’s Corporate Social Responsibility to help the National Initiative to prevent dengue.”
