Maintenance of the Royal College Choir
Each year the Western Music Society takes over the responsibility of maintaining the Royal College Choir. This includes conducting frequent practices and rehearsals, managing the choir performances, overseeing the training of the choristers, maintaining discipline, maintenance and safekeeping of the choir’s assets (Choir Room, Costumes).

Renovation of Middle School Music Room
The Middle School Music Room which was in extremely poor condition was renovated by the society. The room which is used by the College Choir, Junior Western Band and O/L Western Music Students alike had undergone severe damages due to a lack of maintenance and prevalent weather conditions.

Band instruments Workshop
A workshop was organized by the society together with the Western Music Department of the Ministry of Education on the 18th of March 2013, at the Royal College Union for members of school bands. The workshop, which mainly focused on the woodwind and percussion instruments, was conducted by the Music Students from the University of Tokyo, arranged through the JICA Institute. 4 invited schools took part.

The School Song Project
A project was carried out in collaboration with the Prefects’ Council 2012/2013 to introduce the College Anthem to the new grade 5 scholars. CD’s with the recording of the Anthem were distributed among the students and the College song was demonstrated in its original tour part form at a session organized by the Senior Prefects’ The Scholars were also informed on the common mistakes made while singing the Anthem.

Festival of Choirs 2013
Festival of Choirs 2013 was held on the 29th of October from 6pm onwards at the Bishops’ College Auditorium. It is the society’s Annual Public Event and Fundraiser. This year a total of 7 choirs took part.
