The traditional cricket match between Royal College and St.Sebastians College was played at Moratuwa on 30th and 31st of October. Royal coming into this game had three first inning wins under their belt and was aiming towards their first outright win of the season.
St.Sebastians skipper won the toss and elected to bat and managed a very competitive score of 253 runs in 77 overs. Lasith Embuldeniya the leading wicket taker for Royal this season increased his tally by picking 7 wickets for 106 runs and the debutant Charuka Hatharasinghe picked 2 wickets for 90 runs.
Royal batting second managed 34/2 at the end of first days play and continued making a massive score of 371/9 declared in 97 overs. Skipper Geeshath Panditharatne was the top scorer for Royal scoring a brilliant unbeaten 150 runs while his deputy Thiran Dhanapala made a run a ball 115.
St.Sebastians College in their second innings was on 91/3 at the end of days play. All three wickets were picked by Lasith Embuldeniya who ended up with his second ten wickets haul for the season. His figures were 10 wickets for 148 runs. This ensured Royals’ fourth consecutive first innings win for the season.
