The Annual Inter-House Athletics Meet of the Royal Primary School took place on Thursday, the 12th of May at the Junior Grounds. Mr. Mahen Perera, a former Athletics Captian, Donhorst Memorial Prize winner and Trustee of the Royal College Union graced the occassion as the Chief Guest. In addition to this a number of other distinguished guests, including former Primary School Principals, honoured the event with their presence.

For years the Primary School Sports Meet has been the first step for many sportsmen produced by Royal who went on to excel in School, National and International Level events. This year too, the Meet showcased a variety of athletic skills of budding young Royalists in a friendly but competitive setting. In addition to the sporting events, a number of drill displayes and performances by the Primary School Bands added colour to the day’s proceedings.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Guest highlighted on the importance of balancing sporting activities with studies and advised the parents to let their children choose their own path.

Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions the Awarding Ceremony had to be halted midway. The list of main awards which were to be presented are as follows:
