Royal College was crowned the champion of the Inaugural National Schools Fencing Championship that was concluded on Thursday the 22nd of December. The MAS Arena came to life on the 19th of December, with the commencement of the Opening Ceremony.

Royal bagged an overall total of 15 medals (4 Gold, 2 Silver, 9 Bronze), edging out Mahawatta MV who won 6 medals (4 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze). 3 out of the 4 Golds were won in the Under 20 Category, with the U20 mixed team comprising of Seth Perera (Sabre), Ridma Pathirana (Epee), Buddhika Priyashan (Foil) and Umayanga Wickramanayake (Epee) humbling their Thomian Counterparts with a 15-1 victory, as well as Yahiya Salih and Kavindu Collure who won the U20 Sabre and U20 Epee categories respectively. The remaining Gold was won by the U17 Mixed Team which comprised of Induwara Mapolagama (Sabre), Anjula Abeyweera (Epee), Gawesh Samarathunga (Foil) and Mohomad Nuzran (Sabre), who beat a formidable Yatihena MV.

The Award Ceremony was held on the 22nd under the auspices of Mr. Dian Gomes, Chairman of the National Fencing Association of Fencing and Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekera, the Minister of Sports.
