The 12th World Youth Scrabble Championship took place in Kualalampur Malaysia from 27 to the 29th November 2017
The Sri Lankan youth Scrabble team topped the tables to retain the team title which they won in France in 2016. A total of 176 scrabblers fought over 24 rounds at this year’s championship.
4 participants from Royal College represented the Sri Lankan team namely Aabid Ismail, Janul Desilva, Qays Sanghani and Pasindu Chammika.
Aabid Ismail became the champion with 20.5 game wins  and a margin of 1699, and another Royalist Janul Desilva emerged as the runner up with 20game wins and a margin of 2221.

Qays Sanghani and Pasindu Chammika were also able to secure 20th and 45th places respectively.
The Sri Lankan team was able to retain the team title for the 3rd consecutive year because of these young talents.
