The U-15 Table Tennis Team of Royal College emerged the champions of the All Island Schools Games, which was held at the gymnasium of S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia, on the 23rd and 24th of September, 2014.


The champion team comprised of the following members.

Nimesh Ranchagoda
Virunaka Hendehewa
Ojitha Gamage
Helika Adikary
Liran Aloysius

The U-15 team, through the stages of the competition, overcame Sussex College at the quarter final stage with a score of 3-2, and Ambalangoda Dharmasoka Vidyalaya at the semi final stage with a score of 3-1, which brought them to the finals of the competition, against Tholangamuwa Dudley Senanayake College, in which the Royal team managed to beat them 3-0, which resulted in the Royal College U-15 Table Tennis Team being crowned the champions of the All- Island Schools Games.

Adding to the achievement of the Table Tennis Team, Nimesh Ranchagoda & Virunaka Hendehewa were mentioned as the standout performers.

The U-19  Table Tennis Team of Royal College were also placed 3rd in their age group, by beating Kingswood College at the quarter final stage, and just falling short of a win against Dharmasoka Vidyalaya, with the score on 3-2, which caused the Royalists to go against Richmond College for the Bronze Medal or 3rd place, in which they were successful, by beating Richmond College by 3-1.

Kulanaka Hendehewa displayed an exceptional performance, as he remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.

A great display of talent by the younger players, which will prove to be a super power in the future for Table Tennis at Royal College.
