The All – Island Schools Wushu Championship which was held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on the 12th, 13th and 14th of October 2014, saw Royal College being placed 3rd amidst the other awards and achievements which were credited to the Royal College Wushu Team.

In addition to the 2nd runners – up position, the members of the team brought glory to College by winning numerous medals of honour, placing them at the top of their game during the course of this tournament. Kavisha Kasturiarachchi won 2 Gold Medals and a Silver Medal in the 3 events he participated in, while Captain Thejan Ratnayake won a Gold, Silver and a Bronze in his 3 events. Meanwhile, Pasindu Maddage won 2 Silver Medals in the two events he participated in, while Mohomad Suleiman was also impressive as he won a Gold, Silver and Bronze in the 3 events he took part in. Adding to the list of medals won by the Royal College contingent, Mohamed Muzammil managed to win a Silver and a Bronze, while Januda Seneviratne and Sithum Vidanagamage won a Silver and a Bronze each.

Captain Thejan Ratnayake, Kavisha Kasturiarachchi and Mohomad Suleiman were able to further add to the achievements made on the day, by being placed first in in their respective events. Thejan Ratnayake was placed first in “Chang” events, with a Gold, a Silver and a Bronze, while former Captain Kavisha Kasturiarachci was placed first in the “Nan” events by receiving 2 Gold Medals, and a Silver. In the category of “Nan” events in which Kavisha Kasturiarachchi was placed first, Mohamed Suleiman was not far behind by being placed 5th overall with a Gold, Silver and a Bronze Medal.

Thus the skill of the Royal College Wushu team was displayed on a grand scale, and the accolades received above added value and showed the true colours of Wushu within Royal College, and the current form of Wushu within College will undoubtedly remain and improve in the months and years to come.
