We hope that you and your family members are safe and keeping well during these difficult times, where the entire world is grappling to come to terms with the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the Ministry of Education announced the dates when schools will be reopened, we would like to inform you of some of the measures that will be adopted by us to ensure the safety and well-being of our sons, as well as the academic and non-academic staff of Royal College.

The school will be reopened in 3 stages for students.

 Stage 1: Year 13,11 and 5 on 6 July 

 Stage 2: Year 10 & 12 on 20 July 

Stage 3:  Year 3,4,6,7,8 & 9 on 27 July 

School opening time: 7.10 a.m.

1st Interval: 10.20a.m. – 10.40a.m.

2nd Interval: 1.10p.m. – 1.30p.m.

School closing time: 3.30 pm (Until further notice)

All Royalists are to follow the usual and standard school rules, such as attire and presentation. All College rules will be implemented as usual, including regulation of disciplinary issues, for which excuses will not be entertained. 

A special committee was formulated by the School Development Society inclusive of members from the College administration, Royal College Union, Royal College Doctors’ Association and Prefects. We expect your full co-operation in implementing the below mentioned recommendations by the Committee.

  1. Every person entering the College premises should wear a mask covering the nose and mouth,
  2. Every person entering the College premises should have a small bottle of hand sanitizer (Gel foam) with him/her,
  3. Every person entering the College premises should co-operate with the procedure of checking the body temperature,
  4. Every person entering the College premises should wash their hands with soap from the tap/sink that has been installed near the gate,
  5. Every person entering the College premises should have a handkerchief/serviette to wipe hands after washing,
  6. Every person entering the College premises should not touch their face, mouth, nose and eyes while following respiratory etiquettes when coughing and sneezing to avoid infection and spreading of the disease. Further, every person should maintain the relevant 1meter distance when talking with another,
  7. If symptoms such as cough, cold, fever or any other illness is detected, such person, will not be permitted to enter the college premises. Such person shall not be permitted to turn around and go back – and will be directed to an isolation cubicle arranged at the MAS Arena, he/ she must remain until further instructions are provided.
  8. The course of action to be taken with regard to a person that has been isolated will be decided after such person has been examined by doctors. As such, we very strongly advise you to refrain from sending your son to school if he is showing any signs of illness since you will be risking the well-being of your son as well as the other students. First Aid Room will be open for service during school hours with the assistance of doctors at all times
  9. During school hours, there will be personnel designated to monitor each grade. Such personnel will consist of doctors, teachers, prefects, SDS & RCU members. If they detect anyone showing symptoms of illness, that person will be directed to an isolation cubicle and the course of action to be taken will be decided by doctors.
  10. The Canteens will be closed until further notice and it is strongly advised that students bring their food (2 meals: breakfast and lunch) and drinking water from home. Sharing food and water among students would not be allowed all times. Further, you should advise your son to always stay in his classroom and not to gather in groups during school hours.
  11. Please advise your son that even during the interval, he should stay in his classroom, and should only go out to use the toilet. He must refrain from going out to the grounds to play in the interval. 
  12. All sports practices and meetings of clubs and societies have been prohibited until further notice.
  13. College premises will be disinfected daily by spraying disinfectant. To facilitate this process, we request that everyone should leave the premises once school is over. No one will be permitted to stay after 4.00 pm,
  14. No visitors will be permitted to enter the College premises unless it is for an essential matter.
  15. In addition to the above general measures, further hygiene and safety measures would be implemented at the classroom level.

Dear Parents, Guardians, we request you to extend your maximum co-operation to this course of action that has been formulated by the SDS in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the well-being of your son.
