A cross section of students covering the entire student population being exposed to the program were introduced to the system through informative dance and dramas. The system is an upgrade of an already present waste segregation system present at Royal College and hence it is expected that this system will show quick results.

The Official Launch was followed by the “Green Walk” to the Colombo Municipal Council, where the Academic Staff and Students of Royal College alike showed their intent on following up with the program. Students from three different grades carried and displayed boards depicting the different segregation colours, namely Green for decomposable items, Orange for non-degradable items and Blue for paper items.

The 11th of June also featured an milestone in innovation as the first ever school Solar Photovoltaic Energy System was declared open at the Navarangahala by the Hon. Minister of Education.
