The Islamic Society of Royal College, on its urge to serve the community through all means possible, once again proved itself by donating a few ceiling fans to the Al-Iqbal Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo.

This school, even though situated in the city, is an under privileged institution when compared to the other schools in Colombo. With only 580 students, the management committee of the school has to put a lot of effort in enlightening these students’ future.

The representatives of the RCIS visited the school on the  9th of October 2013 and handed over the fans to the School Development Society.

A small ceremony was conducted by the students and staff members of the school in order to accept these books. The principal, as well as a student of the school addressed the gathering at this event.

The Chairman of the Royal College Islamic Society, Shamil Akbar, also addressed the gathering, and mentioned the Islamic importance of the project and the benefits gained by both parties through projects of this nature. The vote of thanks was presented by the Secretary of the School Development Society.

However the credit must also reach Muzab Munas, an Editor of the RCIS from grade 12, who was the project coordinator of this activity.

The Islamic Society would like to extend our humble gratitude to all Well-Wishers who donated the equipment, as well as our teachers for always supporting us in our endeavors.
