The members of the Royal College Philatelic Club went on a field trip to the Economic History Museum of Sri Lanka, today (23.09.2014).

The museum, named as “The Central Point” is named after the “Zero Point”, the point from which the Galle Road and the Kandy Road begin, marked by an ancient clock tower (see album).

This building, being an old colonnaded 1914 Central Bank building has been beautifully restored with an interior of a riot of Greco-Roman detailing and features the tallest chandelier in Asia. The Museum is under the supervision of the Cental Bank of Sri Lanka.

The members of the Club indeed enjoyed the visit and received heaps of information from the lecture as well as from the guided tour around the museum. This trip actually had more to it than just coins and currency.
