The Annual Hockey Encounter for the Dudley De Silva Challenge Shield between Royal College and Wesley College took place on the 27th of October 2014, at the Wesley College Grounds, where Royal College managed to come back from the back of a draw in 2013, to win the encounter and the Challenge Shield this year.

The game started off with both teams being presented with an equal number of opportunities, with Wesley drawing first blood by scoring and getting ahead of the visitors in the 4th minute of the game. However, the attack put up by Royal proved too strong for the home side to hold till half time, as Anojan Ganeshrajah scored 20 minutes later, and made the score 1-1. The teams broke at the halftime break with the score on 1-1.

After words of encouragement by the Royal Coach Mr. Rohan Dissanayake, the Royalists managed to put up more of a fight and had more possession throughout the entirety of the second half. With the attack growing stronger and stronger with every goal scoring opportunity, Malithra Yoshan managed to score in the 43rd minute, and not long after, Imaadh Dole managed to score in the 52nd minute of the game, thus placing the game away from the home team, with the score on 3-1.

The game and the Annual Encounter came to close with the referees whistle, with Royal emerging victorious with the score of 3-1 over the home team, Wesley College. The Vice Captain of the side, Malith Rasanga received the Most Valuable Player Award for the skill displayed and the tactics executed on the field, which was no doubt instrumental in the confidence boosting win at the Wesley College Grounds.
