The Royal-Kingswood hockey encounter was held on the 11th of November 2014 from 2.30pm onwards at the Astro hockey turf, where both the under 15 and under 19 teams of Royal College managed to gain comprehensive wins over their opponents, ultimately retaining the prestigious Lennie De Silva Memorial Trophy.

The under 19 match commenced at around 4.00pm, where Royal did not hesitate to draw first blood with Malithra Yoshan scoring right at the 8 minute mark! The lead was then extended to 2-0 after yet another splendid goal by Anojan Ganeshrajah. The first half concluded at the blow of the referee where the Royalists went into the dugout with their heads held high!

The second half proved to be more gruesome for the visitors after 3 successive goals scored by the home side within three minute intervals. This hat-trick of goals kicked off when the skipper Shaheer Bari came into action during the 33rd minute of play, closely followed by yet another spectacular goal by Imaadh Dole in the 36th minute. The lead was extended once again by the skipper, who was well assisted by Thineth Karunarathne, during the 39th minute, just 3 minutes after the previous goal. Thus, the scoreboard read 5-0 at the end of the 39th minute.

The 21 minutes that followed in the game consisted of many opportunities created by both the teams, but none being capitalized by any of them. The game concluded with the blow of the whistle and Royal had won 5-0.

The presentation ceremony was presided by Mr. Indra De Silva who was the Royal skipper in 1968 who was also a founder member of the Royal College Hockey Club (RCHC). The under 15 team of Royal College were presented with the Kathab Roshan Memorial Trophy after they won the junior encounter 2-1 earlier in the afternoon. The chief guest then presented the champions of the under 19 encounter, Royal College, with the Lennie De Silva Memorial Trophy.

The proceedings concluded after the vote of thanks by the hosting captain Shaheer Bari, followed by the National Anthem.

This was the 9th Hockey Encounter played between the two institutions, after the introduction of the trophy in 2004. A win here did enhance the tally in favour of Royal College who had already won 5 previous encounters, of which Kingswood had won only one! This impressive victory indeed would come in handy going into the big one: the 15th Royal-Thomian Hockey encounter!
