“Celebrating the Unique Sounds of Colombo”

The first phase of the joint project “Outreach” better known as “Crave”; a free entrance- food and music festival organized by the United Nations Clubs of Royal College and Bishops College, Colombo took place on the 9th of August at the Racecourse car park premises. The opening of the event was graced by the Principal of Royal College as well as the teachers in charge of both schools.

Being a first time event, it was planned out to be a fundraiser targeting the second phase of Outreach which will be a health camp to be held at a rural school in Galle- to be held in the month of September.

When looking into the background of Crave, organizing committee strongly believed in the idea of an event that combined two of the things we love the most, Music and Food which undoubtedly aided in making the event a major success, as a massive crowd well exceeding a thousand was witnessed within the premises of the event.

Crave showcased an amazing lineup of local bands and performers and also had a number of stalls, including various foods & beverages, photo booths, games and various other miscellaneous attractions. One of the main agendas of the event was to celebrate the diverse sounds of Colombo and promote rising talents and bring them to the eyes of the public, which was duly achieved as many forms of music including instrumental, singing and beat boxing were mixed to the array of performances in the lineup.

The entire event was about creating good vibes and unforgettable memories within whoever was there to witness it, and the whole atmosphere of Crave as well as the charm of the Racecourse only added to the festivity and the vibrance that the evening could offer. Lights, music, the mixed fragrance from the food stalls and the sky lanterns combined to make a magical evening, a true revolution through euphony.

The organizing committee is yet again eternally grateful for everyone who made generous contributions in aid of the second phase in the name of charity, and we gladly bring to your attention that the expected outcomes were achieved and all the profits from the event will help brighten the lives of underprivileged students in Galle.
