The 1st XI Cricket Encounter between Royal College and Thurstan College for the year 2015 took place on the 22nd and 23rd of October at the Royal College Grounds. The two teams last met less than a few months ago in March this year after the previous year’s encounter was cancelled due to severe weather conditions. Fortunately, this year the match which was due to begin on the 21st of October was only delayed by a day due to a wet outfield.

Thurstan College came in to bat first and concluded their first innings with a score of 131 runs. The innings saw an outstanding performance by Royal bowler Lasith Embuldeniya who claimed 7 out of 10 wickets.  The remaining wickets were taken by Himesh Ramanayake, Dumindu Hettiarachchi and Malith Kariyawasam (run out).

In their first innings the Royal College 1st XI managed to obtain a score of 135 runs. Malith Kariyawasam and Geeshath Panditharathne scored 35 runs each.

The match drew to a close on the 23rd of October during the 2nd innings of the Thurstan side during which they secured 116 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Two wickets each were taken by Lasith Embuldeniya and Malith Kariyawasam.
