Royal College secured a satisfactory victory against D. S. Senanayake College at their first match for the Singer Schools’ Rugby League which took place at the College Sports Complex on the 18th of March. Within the first five minutes of the game, Mahima Gamage managed to secure the first try for the home side setting the score at 5 – 0. Conversion, however, was unsuccessful. Within a few minutes’ time, the Dons were awarded a penalty which they secured bringing the score up to 5 – 3. Stepping up his game, Mahima Gamage managed to score his second try of the match, which was easily converted by Ovin Askey. Following two futile attempts, Hamza Reeza managed to carry the ball off the scrum and over the line scoring a try which set the score at 17 – 3. Just minutes before Half Time D. S. Senanayake College scored yet another try and converted. The score at Half Time was 17 -10.

Royal managed to secure their fourth try when Royal took a scrum inside the 22m line leading the skipper Nikhila Gunadeera to go over the line. Once successfully converted by Askey the score was brought up to 24 – 10. The 5th and the 6th tries for Royal were scored by Nikhil George and Yohan Kanishka respectfully, with Askey once again converting the 5th try to add two more points, securing victory for the side with a score of 36 – 10.
