The Royal College U18 Hockey Team made its mark in history after securing victory at the U18 National Schools Hockey Tournament which concluded on the 11th September at the Astro Turf, Colombo. This is the 4th time a team from Royal won the tournament during this decade and only the 3rd time in the last six years.

The first match was played against St. Thomas’ College, Matale which Royal won 2 – 0. Goals were scored by Dilan Kavinda and Nadun Jayawardena. Following a tie of 2 goals each at the quarter-final match against St. Aloysius College, Galle, Royal College managed to secure the match with penalties 4 – 3. The goals for Royal were secured by Pasindu Charuke and Dilan Kavinda

The semi-final match was played against St. Joseph Vaz College, Vennappuwa. Both teams failed to score goals and the match was decided with penalty strokes where Royal once again succeeded 5 – 4.

At the Final match played against Nalanda College Royal College was trailing 0 – 1 for 42 minutes. However, two quick goals by Pasindu Charuke and Dilan Kavinda brought the score up to 2 – 1 in Royal’s favour securing victory of the match and the tournament.

Pasindu Charuke recieved the Player of the Tournament award.
