Royal College emerged victorious against Mahinda College Galle at the 23rd Albert Edirisinghe Challenge Trophy which was held on the 27th of November at the Racecourse Grounds. The match kicked off at 4.00 pm, and the final score was 1-0 (2-1 aggregate) in favor of the men in Blue and Gold.

Having battled out a tense 1-1 draw in the first leg, which took place at the Mahinda College Grounds on the 29th of October, both teams were eager to secure an all important lead. However, it was Royal that took control of proceedings, dominating possession in the first half and having the lion share of opportunities. Resolute defending denied them an elusive goal, and the score remained nil all at half time.

It was more of the same in the second half, with the Royal midfielders controlling the game and the strikers launching and endless stream of shots on goal; and eventually they broke the deadlock through Ashraff Ali, who clinically headed in a corner during the dying moments of the game. The score stood at 1-0 at the end of 90 minutes, with the Royalists emerging deserving victors with a 2-1 aggregate score.
