The Monash University Future Leader Award was initiated as an award aimed at identifying and rewarding students who demonstrate outstanding initiative and leadership in a range of issues that make a difference to the society. Winning the award in the past it was quintessential of Royal College to maintain and raise the bar this time round.

Each school was tasked with nominating two students they deemed appropriate for the award. These students were charged with sending in an application which then underwent a long and painful screening process, and thereafter a shortlisted 10 students were selected for interviews for the award late last year. The competition was among a group of dynamic and talented student leaders from around the nation.

Both Royalists nominated Ifram Ismath and Kaif Sally were among the top 10 shortlisted and interviewed by both Sri Lankan Business leader Mr. Deepal Sooriyaarachchi and a representive from Monash University Australia. Students were judged not only on the usual academics, co-curricular and extra-curricular they were also judged based on their endeavors in community service and leadership displayed in the school, national and international levels.

Kaif Sally was able to bring prestige to college by emerging among the winners as 2nd Runner up of the Monash Future leader award at the award ceremony which was held at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel last Friday.
