Inter House Athletics Meet 2017

The most anticipated Inter-House event, the Inter-House Athletic Meet took place at the college main grounds in a glamorous manner on the 16th of February.

The Inter-House Athletic Meet commenced at 1pm with the raising of the National flag by the principal and the college flag by the Athletic Captain and the 5 house flags by the respective house captains accompanied by the master in charge of the house.

The track events of the day started a few minutes amidst heartfelt cheers from the various houses. As the events went on the most thrilling event of the evening was the 100m individual race. The expectations of the crowd was dismantled when a young athlete of just 16 years finished the race in a matter of 10.80 seconds, breaking all the school records from 1835 to 2016 and becoming the fastest Royalist to date. Anupa Liyanagunawardena was also awarded the Best Athlete after his magnificent record breaking run.

The house captains of the 5 houses worked very hard dedicating many nights  to win the coveted “best decorated house” award but only the captain of the Boake house was able to lay hands on the souvenir.

The March Past lead by the Head Prefect Dinuka De Zoysa was spectacular in every way.  All the houses practiced for hours in the  sun to win 25 points for their houses and Marsh house took credit for the best March Past and took the 25 points with them.

  • Under 12- Dilitha Ganegoda- Hartley House
  • Under 13- Thisal Peiris- Boake House
  • Under 14-Banuka Jayathilka-Harward House
  • Under 15-Dulen Kularathne- Boake House
  • Under 16-Chamtha Thivanka- Boake House
  • Under 17- Kassapa Amarasinghe- Boake House
  • Under 19- Rajindu Yasajith- Boake House
  • Under 21- Mithum Mihiranga- Marsh House

At the end of the athletics meet the house standings were as follows
