The U19 All Island Inter School Badminton Championships took place from the 2nd to the 5th of April. Playing in the A division both the A and B teams of Royal College were ready to make their mark and bring home some silverware.

The A team led by Thevin Rahubadda set to play Trinity College and the B team led by Damindu Adikari set to play Nalanda College B team, both won their respective first group matches with ease.

Afterwards, the A team were confident and ready for the upcoming match against a equally confident and talented Richmond College side, whilst the similar mindset was seen in the B team, who were set to compete against Ananda College. Unfortunately the A team after a hard fought tie eventually were unable to come out on top victorious, losing to the eventual champions of the Super A division 3-2 in decider. With the B team losing to Ananda College 3-0, the end of day two saw both teams in the semi finals of the A division.

The A team were set to play against Rahula College and quickly moved into the finals after making quick work of their opponents winning 3-1. The same couldnt be said for the B team as they lost to a strong D.S.Senanayake College team, 3-0.

That set the A division final between Royal College A and D S.Senanayake College. However the question as to who would be victorious was short lived as Royal College emerged champions of the A division, winning 3-0 over their opponents.

It was a tournament with a fair amount of both disappointment and success, and both teams are likely to come back stronger next year.
