The second leg of the 22nd annual Royal-Mahinda football encounter for the Albert Edirisinghe Challenge Trophy took place on the 7th of November at the Mahinda College Football Grounds, Galle.

The match kicked off at 3.30pm with Mahinda College giving a good test to the Royal team for ball possession. The pitch was unsuitable for play but Royals center mid Saajid Hashimdeen managed to provide a through ball for Naveen Jude finishing it off with a goalat the top corner of the post ending the first half of the match 1-0 in Royals favor.

The second half was better for the boys from Reid Avenue as they had gotten used to the pitch conditions and dominated ball possession.  After many failed attempts at Goal, the Royal team crowded the opposition box with Royals winger Omila Vidanage setting up a goal for striker Naveen Jude who put it away with a powerful shot to the bottom corner of the net. Ending with a score of 2-0 in Royals favor.

With an Aggregate of 4-0 Royal College was able to retain the coveted Albert Edirisinghe Challenge Trophy making the tally of the encounter 21-2 in favor of Royal College.
