Islamic Society raises awareness on the Think | Eat | Save anti – food waste and food loss campaign


“Think Green” being one of the main avenues of the club, and avoiding wastage being a main teaching in Islam, the Royal College Islamic Society have planned to do a project in regard to the World Environment Day in collaboration with Ecologi Association, which is an Eco Project of SG Logistics (Pvt) Ltd, subsidiary of Expolanka Holding PLC.

The theme for this year’s World Environment Day celebrations is Think | Eat | Save. Think | Eat | Save. is an anti-food waste and food loss campaign that encourages you to reduce your foodprint.

The workshop was conducted to the Students of the Advanced Level on the 6th of June, the day following the World Environmental Day which is an annual event of United Nations that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action.

This was a workshop under the topic “Food Wastage” conducted by professionals on this field, Dr. Ajantha Perera and Mrs. Kanchana Weerakoon. The Tamil Dramatic Society also presented a drama on the occasion.

Over 400 school students benefited from this program, where many ways to prevent food wastage within school premises were discussed.
