History and Background
As an initiator of countless events, Royal College is proud to be the very first school in Sri Lanka to have an established Gavel Club. The club was formed in 2009 with the patronage of UNESCO club of Royal College and Serendib Toastmaster club.
Gavel attempts to empower students to achieve their full potential and realize their dreams.
Through its members, people all over the school can improve their communication and leadership skills, and find the courage to transform into better individuals.

The vision of the Royal College Gavel Club is to emerge as the key provider of high-value, experiential communication and leadership skills development.
The mission of the Royal College Gavel Club is to a provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self confidence and personal growth.
