History and Background
The Dramatic Society of Royal College was inaugurated in 1939. During the period of 1939-1960 The Dramatic Society was influenced by all three languages together. But The Royal College Tamil Dramatic Society (Tamil Nadaha Mandram) was formed in 1960 by the past Royalists. The Royal College Tamil Dramatic Society, even though it was formed in 1960, we were unable to collect the detail during the period of 1960-1974. But after Mr.Prithivraj (former chairman in 1974) took over the leadership the improvement of the society underwent a massive change and it continued until 1987. Later due to the country situation the society wasn’t active for few years then again in 1991 Mr.R.Yusuf took over the leadership and made our society function well and begun the Inter School Drama Competitions. Then later in 1992 under the leadership of Mr.Sureshkumar Inter Grade Drama Competitions were started. And since 1985 we are annually realizing our souvenir ‘Navarasam’
The Royal College Tamil Dramatic Society’s traditions have been taken over and followed by so many respective leaders such as Hon.Rauf Hakeem (M.P), Hon.A.Sumanthiran (M.P) and many others who are remarkable positions presently. They all have worked hard towards the development of the prestigious Society and completed the Grand 50th Anniversary and handed over to us.
Our Main Vision is to improve the dramatic skills among the student not only inside our Alma Mater but also among the other Schools too.
We planned to do many projects which is pretty much related to our Moto and planned to have so many dramatic competitions and give them awards in the functions such as ‘NadahaVizha’ and ‘HarasaraPranama’.
