Royal College recorded an emphatic win of an innings and 131 runs over St.John’s College, Jaffna in an encounter which was played after 48 years.

The first innings was well contested with Randev Pathirana taking out the entire batting attack of St. John’s while conceding only one run. The St. John’s lineup was comprehensively bowled out for a total of 45 runs. However the boys from Jaffna replied positively by causing problems to the batsmen of Royal by managing to grab a few wickets. But the introduction of Thiran Danapala quickly put an end to this and he went on to score his maiden test century while also inscribing his name in history by becoming the first Royalist to score a century in Jaffna.

On the second day, St. John’s College started the second innings well but fell for the bowling prowess of Harith Samrasinghe. The Royalists showed good team chemistry to ensure that the match finished early and recorded a Royal test match victory against St. John’s College in Jaffna after 48 years.
