Computer Society

The Royal College Computer Society (RCCS) has established itself as a computer society well versed in the fields of IT and robotics. Further supplementing their reputation, the RCSS has gone on to win awards at the following competitions.

The Royal College Computer Society secured a number of awards for their achievements at the Young Computer Scientist Competition and National Schools Software Competition 2013. The awards were presented at a ceremony organized jointly by the I.C.T. Branch of the Ministry of Education, Computer Society of Sri Lanka, Federation of the Information Technology Industry, Sri Lanka and the University of Colombo School of Computing which was held on the 23rd of December at the University of Colombo Auditorium. Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Education presided over the event as Chief Guest.

The RCCS also went on to win honors at the Sri Lankan Robotics Challenge

RCCS member Pasan Dharmasiri of grade 12 emerged runner up at the Sri Lankan Robotics Challenge 2013 organized by the E-Club of University of Moratuwa and the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering. The competition took place on the 12th and 13th of December at the Auditorium of the Department of Civil Engineering.

The challenges presented tested basic skills required to build a robot, with processes such as line following, curve following, object detection, and object grabbing.

Adding further to their excellence in computing, a team from the RCCS secured places at the following competitions organized by the ICT Union of Ramanathan Hindu Ladies College, Colombo 04.
