Game ends a draw

It is the 1^st of March; the much awaited Royal Thomian Encounter is just days ahead. The 1^st XI team gets ready for the final encounter before the Big Match. The two teams are ready for an intense battle as they enter the Thurstan College Cricket Grounds.

The game begins with Royal on the pitch. A slow beginning is seen as the side loses a few early wickets. By lunch time the Royal score stands at 106/6. As play resumes some more eager action is seen with some brilliant performance from Royal’s side. As the innings come to an end the side manages to hang on to a satisfactory score of 230 runs.

Soon after we see the Thurstan side at the pitch facing some hard times as the Royal bowlers are seen in good form. With Embuldeniya dominating as usual, the Royal side manages to put a fast end to the innings the following morning at 207/10.

As the 2^nd innings for Royal begin, 0/1 marks a somewhat troubling start for the side. Much dominance is seen by the Thurstan bowlers as they manage to slow the innings to 46/5 by lunch time. The afternoon sees the Royal side at considerably better levels as they mark 151/10.

The 2^nd innings for the Thurstan side sees the same slow game play as the bowlers display their prowess on the field. Within a short period the batsmen are down to 101/7 as dusk brings an end to the day’s play.

The encounter ends a draw with some commendable performance from either side.
