Another page of College history is written in gold as we unveiled the first green themed school building in the island, a newest addition to Royal College. A joint initiative of Edex and Loyalty Pledge, this multifaceted structure provides a variety of facilities to the students whilst housing numerous classrooms of the primary. Another specialty is its architecture which attempts to emulate that of the old school buildings.

The opening of the building took place on the 7th of April with the presence of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickramasinghe. In addition the Education Minister along with a number of notable individuals belonging to the College alumni graced this occasion. The address by the Prime Minister with references to his childhood as well as his plans for the future of the nations education system managed to grasp the audience and plant much interest and enthusiasm within the minds of all present. Furthermore his pledge to develop the standards of technology at College was also met with much cheer by the students present at the audience.

This novel addition to College is significant owing to its green theme which encompasses a noteworthy level of self-sustainability as a single building, thus providing an example to all with regards to the much needed drive towards a greener future.
