The slight drizzle along with that atmosphere of the typical rainy morning seemed to spread an air of despair which was soon wiped off as a grand felicitation ceremony for an eminent Old Royalist was up for that day. The Commander of the Sri Lankan Army, Major General A W J C De Silva was to be conveyed due honour and accolade by the entirety of the College community.

Fortune seemed to be around as the rains bid farewell minutes before his arrival. Whilst the older students were lined up along the path way to welcome the Commander, the students in shorts were taken to the College Junior Grounds to witness the Guard of Honour to be carried out by the College Cadets in lieu of the occasion. The Major General was accompanied to the ceremony by the Junior Western Band upon paying due respect at the College War Memorial.

Soon afterwards, with the conclusion of the felicitation ceremony in much pomp and grandeur amidst the spectacular performance of the Cadet Band, the centre of attention moved to towards the Navarangahala where all was set for the Induction Ceremony of the Primary Prefects.

With the arrival of the Chief Guest for the occasion, the Major General the ceremony highly awaited by all those little kids in the Primary started off. The morning saw some valuable advice being departed to the students by the Army Commander during his address. The badging and taking of oaths by the Primary Prefects also took place as usual.

Thus the proceedings for the morning met their ends with much appraisal and positive comment from all parties present.
