The Limited Overs Cricket Encounter between Royal College and S.Thomas’ College for the Mustangs Trophy was played under lights on the 19th of March, 2016 at the R. Premadasa International Stadium.

The Royal skipper won the toss and elected to bat first. It was not the ideal start that Royal was looking for as opener Naveen Withanapathirane was dismissed with only 12 runs on the board. Once again the Thomian bowlers had the best of the Royal top order as they restricted them to 77/4 in 25 overs. Malith Kariyawasam together with Geeshath Panditharatne, the skipper put on a partnership of 64 runs for the 5th wicket. The soft dismissal of Malith Kariyawasam again gave the Thomians the upper hand as they were able to restrict the Royalists to a modest score of 210 in 48.2 overs. The highest scorer for Royal was Geeshath Panditharatne with 59 runs while Ravindu Tillekaratne picked up 5 wickets the thomians.

At the start the Economic Bowling of Lasith embuldeniya and Malith Karayawasam were able to contain the Thomians as they were 99/4 in 25 overs. Fresher Sithara Hapuhinna rose to the occasion as he contributed to the Thomian innings with 65* runs and made sure that they crossed the line in 45.5 overs securing the Mustangs Trophy. The Man of the Match Award was presented to Thomian Sithara Hapuhinna.
