The sleepless night of practicing every single day paid off on the day of the Inter House Drama Competition which was organized by the English Drama Society which was held on the 19th of April and that practice made sure the event was a masterful success. All five houses took to the stage to showcase their original scripts and their acting abilities. Principal, Mr. B.A. Abeyrathna graced the event as the chief guest.

Hartley took to the stage first with their play “A Perpetual Scandal” which was a modern political satire which portrayed the Sri Lankan political system. Next it was Boake houses turn to put on a deep emotional tragedy based around the lives of four friends called “Forgive and Forget”. Reed followed after with “All In” a drama about a man’s gambling addiction also showcasing the powers of the casino through an evil slender man.

After the break it was Harwards turn to showcase their skill and creativity and that is exactly what they did when they put up their play “I was talking about me” which was a story based on the effects on a family through the loss of their son. Last off it was Marsh who had a creative take on the relationship between Sri Lanka and China and they showed it through the biodiversity of a pond which included frogs and a crane.

This play not only caught the audiences eye but also so the judges who were Jake Oorloff, Nishantha De Silva and Shanuki De Alwis which was clear when their house not only became champions of the competition winning the Shazan Rali Memorial Trophy, the Best Ensemble Award and the Best Actor Award which was won by Meth Hettihewa who played the Froger. Reed House became Runners Up and Boake won the Best Script Accolade.
