Royal secured an easy but well deserved victory over Zahira College after fantastic display of skill at the Royal College Sports Complex where the final score read 41 points to 05 in favour of Royal. Royal wasted no time to find their stride and Royal’s strong centre, Thulaib Hassen played an excellent game to open the scoring in the 3rd minute. He forced his way through the whitewash and touched down in the far corner, Maleesha Perera added the extra points. Zahira had the opportunity to add some points but unforced errors let them down.

7 minutes after the first try Kevin Samarasekara touched down for Royal’s second after he took a quick penalty in Zahira’s half and Maleesha again made no mistake with his conversion. Royal kept on attacking successfully and scoring another 3 tries before half time. First it was Maleesha to add points with a try and then followed by Mubeen Faleel and Thulaib scoring his second. But Maleesha was only able to kick one of the conversions. While all this was happening Zahira too were able to score a try in the 25th minute when prop forward Shameem Nassar finished an excellent move to break through the Royal line.

The second half was much more closely contested where Royal had to work hard for every inch they got in to the Zahira half. Possession kept on switching but Royal finally got their breakthrough when power packed prop Himantha Hirushan broke through the line but, Maleesha failed to score the conversion.

In the dying minutes Royal were looking to add insult to injury and they were successful when Thulaib scored his hat trick in the 67th minute fending off the Zahira defenders to break through the line. With Maleesha missing his conversion the referee blew his whistle to end the game with another Royal victory continuing their unbeaten run this season.
