As the 140th Battle of the Blues dawns upon us, symptoms of Big Match fever begin to materialize. The Prefects’ Council is happy to announce that preparations for the Battle of the Blues have officially begun. Over 8500 hearts beat in anticipation, as preparations proceed. In the coming days school will be veiled in a carnival like atmosphere, as the college halls begin to be emblazed in blue and gold. We encourage all students (past and present) to participate in any way possible as the buildup for the 140th edition of this fantastic encounter goes underway.

Record-breaking performances on the field by Kamil Mishara, who scored the highest runs by an individual (250*) against Ananda College, (beating the long-standing record set by Chulaka Amarasinghe in 1983) and Pasindu Sooriyabandara, who scored the highest runs by an individual at Reid avenue, (202*) against St. Mary’s Chilaw, have proven our Cricket Team’s intent to retain the coveted Senanayake Shield as they too, prepare for battle.

We anticipate a performance worthy of the Royal spirit from our Cricket Team and we ask all those who bleed blue with hearts of gold to raise a cheer as the 140th Battle of the Blues draws near.
