The Dornhorst Memorial Prize, which is awarded to the Most Outstanding Royalist has been secured by Rohit Navarajah, for the year 2020.

The Dornhorst Memorial Prize is awarded in memory of Ceylonese barrister and King’s advocate, late Mr. Fredrick Dornhorst, one of Royal’s greatest sons, and an individual that all Royalists owe a debt of gratitude.

This Prize is awarded based on an exceptional academic, extracurricular, co-curricular and disciplinary record and popularity within school.

Rohit, who claimed the prize this year, was a Steward, a Junior Prefect and was recently appointed as a Probationary Prefect. He passed his Ordinary Level exam with 9As.

He was the Royal College Athletic Vice-Captain for the year 2020 and the Boake House Vice-Captain in 2019. He is a third-year Royal College Coloursman and has All Island School Games Colours, Sir John Tarbet Senior Championship Colours & Western Province Colours. He also holds four National Schools Athletics Meet records, one Western Province Schools athletics record & eight Royal College athletics records. Becoming the Under 13 number 1 ranked athlete in both 100m and 200m events in 2013 and being awarded as the Champion Athlete of Royal College in 2013 and 2014, he has brought glory to Royal on countless occasions.

Rohit was also the Secretary of the Tamil Dramatic Society and the Globe Family and the Assistant Chairman of the Hindu Students’ Union in the year 2019.

He recently sat for the G.C.E A/L examinations in the Commerce stream. We wish him all the best for all his future endeavors!
