With a remarkable career in education, and administration along with a wealth of experience, Mr. Waththuhewa has been fulfilling a crucial role full of dynamic leadership and fresh perspective in our esteemed institution since he assumed his duties on the 11th of August, 2023.

Mr. Waththuhewa’s professional journey is a testament to his extreme dedication in the field of education. He is a Certified Business Accountant (CBA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants Sri Lanka and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management (B.B.Mgt HRM Special) from the University of Kelaniya. Furthermore, his pursuit of excellence led him to acquire a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the Open University and a Master’s degree in Education Planning and Management from IIEP, France.

Before his appointment at Royal College, Mr. Waththuhewa held distinguished positions in prominent educational institutions and the Ministry of Education most notably, serving as the Principal of Nalanda College and Richmond College. His expertise and leadership were also acknowledged through roles such as SLEAS 1, Zonal Director of Education – Galle and Hambanthota, Provincial Coordinator of NSBS Project – PMOE Southern, and Provincial Coordinator of various projects. Moreover, he has an outstanding experience in the private sector further bearing testimony for his sound knowledge in the field of education.

Having begun his educational journey at Dutugemunu Central College, Buttala, Mr. Waththuhewa’s ascent to the position of Principal at Royal College is an inspiring endeavour of dedication.
