The Dornhorst Memorial Prize, awarded to the Most Popular Royalist, has been secured by Deveen Balasuriya for the year 2023. The prize is named in memory of the Ceylonese Barrister and King’s Advocate, the late Mr. Frederick Dornhorst, who is remembered as one of Royal’s greatest sons. All Royalists owe a debt of gratitude to this distinguished individual. The Prize is conferred based on an outstanding academic, extracurricular, co-curricular, and disciplinary record, as well as popularity within the school.


Deveen, the current awardee, demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Chairman of the Buddhist Brotherhood and Secretary of the Philatelic Club. His impactful initiatives continued in roles such as Assistant Books Department Leader of the Social Services League and Treasurer of the UNESCO Club. Highlighting his leadership prowess, Deveen served as both Junior and Senior Steward, showcasing his dedicated commitment to the College.
