Resumption of Academic Activities
Dear Parents,
We do hope that all of you are safe and secure currently.
Due to the prevailing situation in the country the Ministry of Education has indicated to us that schools will re-commence on 23rd November 2020. Therefore, after having discussions with the members of the Administration, Academic Staff, School Development Society and Royal College Union, we have decided to commence virtual classrooms from 9th November 2020. As before, students can access virtual classrooms via the RC LMS but the online session would be on the ZOOM platform. The decision to make this change was taken in consultation with the ICT Advisory of the RCU by considering the positive feedback we received from all stakeholders during the previous lockdown period.
We also realize that work at home could be stressful at times especially when there are limitations on devices, connectivity and sometimes even space when everyone is requested to work/study from home.
Our staff will conduct live teaching sessions based on a timetable using ZOOM and Cloud Smart School LMS. Sometimes it could be shorter time duration compared to the former and sometimes you may have to re-connect at the end of 40 minutes. The teacher at times may request from students to open their video camera and respond to ensure that the students are attentive to the lesson. We have also included some exam papers in the Learning Resources in the LMS for students to practice whilst being at home. The ZOOM sessions will make learning more live and the content of lessons will be uploaded to Cloud Smart School LMS and they can catch up later in the same day.
We wish to request from the parents to ensure that your child is prepared for the class ahead of time and also ensure that his focus is maintained on the lessons.
We are aware that we would not be able to provide education to everyone due to limitations at their ends. However, we are doing everything possible on our side to make sure that every student is engaged with the educational activities provided by our College.
I request all Royalists and their families to follow health guidelines and stay safe at all times.
