We as the Royal College Chemistry Club have planned to carry out many successful projects fulfilling our vision and mission of uplifting the standard of chemistry knowledge within the Alma-Mater and society while upholding the name of the club.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the majority of our projects will be held online. We have planned to commence our club year by initiating “Did You Know’21” project, in which we share a weekly post about an interesting fact related to the field of chemistry. “Z’’ score and “Mobile learning app” are the other two projects for the first quarter. Those two projects will provide a helping hand for the A/L students. In April, we have planned to conduct “The Mendelivian quiz’21” which is our inner-school chemistry quiz for the talented Royalists from grades 6-11. It will be a golden opportunity for young Royalists who will become great scientists in the near future. Next, we have planned to do “Match the Element” project, which will be a whole new experience for all the students. This is a joint venture done along with the Royal College Computer Society. This project will reflect the greater heights of innovative learning methods in the modern era.For the third quarter, we have planned to carry out three projects.
First up is the “Career Guidance’21” lecture series which will be a career-defining event for all the young Royalists. This project will lay a strong foundation to build up great personalities in the near future. Next up is the “Redivivus’21”. It is a lecture that will be focused on revealing the greater heights of the field of chemistry. Royalists from grades 6-13 will be the targeted crowd for this project. The last project for the third quarter will be the “Visentia’21”; the all Island inter-school chemistry quizcompetition. This quiz holds the record for being the largest quiz competition held in Sri Lanka, with the participation of 129 schools in the last year. This will be organized for A/L students. For the concluding quarter, we have planned to do three projects. All Island O/L seminar series, Chemistry day, and the “Royal Chemist” chemistry magazine are those projects.
The All Island O/L seminar series will be a vital hand for the students who are facing the O/L examination at the end of this year, which is also a career-defining moment for them. Thereafter, we have planned to carry out two new initiatives named “Chemistry day” and “The Royal Chemist”. The “Chemistry day” will be a revolutionary change in the field of chemistry, where we lay the foundation for all the talented and young Royalists to step out and show their talents to the whole world. This will be a great inspiration for every student who wishes to become a chemist in the future. “The Royal Chemist”, a chemistry magazine will be a golden casket with a whole heap of chemistry knowledge. This will be an annual educational magazine. It will help its readers to learn chemistry to its core. All in all, we have planned to carry out a higher amount of successful projects which will reach the greatest heights of chemistry. All these efforts are to uplift the standard of chemistry knowledge and to crown our club as the leading educational club in the Island.
