Clubs and Societies have always been a pathway for Royalists to pursue their interests apart from the educational curriculum, providing students with a platform to exhibit, enhance and develop their soft skills and individual talents. Starting with a handful of Clubs and Societies, the Royal College today has a myriad of clubs ranging from a multitude of avenues. Thus, the co-curricular activities of the school have drastically advanced and improved over time.
Despite clubs existing for almost a century in the College, the Clubs and Societies’ Felicitation Ceremony, more commonly known as ‘Clubs’ Night’, is a novel addition to the clubs’ calendar.
It was introduced in 2010 to celebrate and recognize the immeasurable dedication and commitment of the Clubs and Societies of the College during their club year.
The highlights of the Clubs and Societies Felicitation Ceremony would be the presentation of the project awards. Following this is the highly anticipated Grading of the Clubs according to their performance during the year. Both aspects were introduced to create an atmosphere of competition, not between clubs, but with a club’s current standards.
With over 50 active clubs and only a handful of awards to be distributed, the event is a concoction of emotions. The goal of The Clubs and Societies Felicitation Ceremony is to inspire student organizations to go to great lengths to improve their standards. The limited number of awards emphasizes our policy of valuing quality over quantity.
Though the Clubs and Societies Felicitation Ceremony is in its infancy when compared to other events, it will grow, developing the co-curricular atmosphere of the school for the years to come. Ultimately, the event is a celebration of cherished memories, hard work, and true Royal spirit.
