70th Wedding Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth
The Royal Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip Mountbatten celebrated their 70 years of marriage on the 20th of November 2017. The bells of Westminster Abbey in London, where they had married in 1947 rang to mark the occasion. The Royal couple marked their platinum wedding anniversary with a private dinner with family and friends at Windsor Castle on 20th November. Crowds gather outside for glimpse of the royal couple.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were the first to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. When the royal couple had married, Princess Elizabeth was 21 years while the groom, Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten was 26.
To mark the day with great specialty the Royal Mail has issued a set of six commemorative
stamps, featuring the couple’s engagement and wedding.
