Bradby Motivation – Royal College First XV
The Royal College Prefects’ Council 2012/2013 made a very special gesture in support of the Boys in Blue & Gold, following the idea that was initiated by the Prefects’ Council of the previous year. This years’ session had more than a few improvements, specially in the scale of the event. After a specially crafted motivational session held between only the Prefects and the Team at the RCU skills center, the team was lead down towards the Royal College Junior Grounds, and awaiting them, to their surprise was a crowd of nearly four thousand students, ranging from Grade 6 to Grade 12. The team then moved on to the Junior Pavilion beneath a classic Blue & Gold flag held by the students. As they gazed upon the crowd, a special speech regarding the importance of the Royal – Trinity Encounter was made by former Royal Rugby Star and one of the most brilliant upcoming players of the National Rugby side, Mr. Chamara Dabare.
The team was then announced, and the players once again moved towards a platform in the middle of the crowd at the center of the field, to receive their jerseys from another Royal Rugby Legend, Captain of the Undefeated side of 2009, Mr. Naren Dhason. As the final name was called, Captain Rimze Jamaldeen received a token of motivation from the Head Prefect Shan Lakshitha to place in their dressing room, to remind them of what they were fighting for. Heads held high and full of pride, the team along with the crowd sang the College Song and brought the event to an end.
The Royal College Prefects’ Council along with eight thousand students and the entire staff of Royal College firmly believe that the team will bring glory to College, while facing the Lions in their own den. We wish the Royal College Rugby First XV the very best of luck! We believe in you!
