The Royal College Carrom Team managed to top the tables at the National Junior Carrom Championship, organized by the Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka, which took place from the 5th to the 20th March at the CFSL Headquarters in Kohuwala, with over 350 players taking part from across the island.

Royalists Nadarajan Sankanath, Vidmal Rajapaksha and Shaheed Hilmy emerged Champions in the U – 13, U – 15 and U – 17 Singles categories respectively while Senath Rajapaksha and Anas Ahamed emrged runners up in the U – 17 and U – 21 Singles categories.

In the Doubles games Vidmal Rajapaksha and Seneth Rajapaksha emrged runners up in the U – 17 age category while Anas Ahamed and Shaheed Hilmy emerged runners up in the U – 21 category.

In addition to these, Anas Ahamed recorded two ‘White Slams’ (finishing a match without giving the opponent a chance) while Shaheed Hilmy recorded a ‘Black Slam’ (finishing a match at the first opportunity gained).

Kaveen Nimneth (St. John’s College) beat Senath Rajapaksha (Royal College) 2 – 0 (25/2, 25/23)

Under 21 Boys’ Singles

Shaheed Hilmy (Royal College) beat Anas Ahamed (Royal College) 2 – 0 (25/20, 25/10)

Under 17 Boys’ Doubles

Sahan Geeth/Kaveen Nimneth (St. John’s College) beat Vidmal Rajapaksha/Senath Rajapaksha (Royal College) 2 – 0 (25/11, 25/17)

Under 21 Boys’ Doubles

I. Kalansuriya/M. Mufees (St. Sylvester’s College) beat Anas Ahamed/Shaheed Hilmy (Royal College) 2 – 0 (25/18, 25/13)
