The Royal College General Knowledge Club for the year begins in the month of January. The club plans to carry out many successful projects upholding the name of the club such as, the Blue & Gold Quiz, Inter-House & Trivial Blitz. With the advent COVID-19 pandemic, most of the projects carried out were virtual projects. We, the quizzers, start the year by conducting Born On This Day, Focus On The Month & Ignowiz. Born On This Day, is a project where the club shares a poster of a famous personality with few important facts of themselves on their respective birthdays and this campaign happens until the end of the year. Focus On The Month is also a poster campaign where she share a poster on important events which happened during the month and this project also continues until the end of the year. And happens throughout the year. During the 1st six months of the year, we were able to complete the Inter-House Quiz, where the 05 houses of college participate to compete with each house. Secondly, we have the Quizzers’ Workshop which was conducted in 02 phases, where the 01st phase was done for the Primary students of school, while the 02nd phase was done for the Grades 6-11 students of school.

The Royal College General Knowledge Club currently are in state of conducting Trivial Blitz, which seeks to create a platform in which we will share 1,000 questions from a multitude of different topics ranging from Sports to Current Affairs. The online platform will be accessible to anyone willing to take part where they can answer 10 MCQ questions at a time. In the final six months of the year, the club hopes to conduct the 31st Blue & Gold Quiz, which is one of Sri Lanka’s largest & long running Inter-School quizzes. The quizzers also hope with the settlement of the pandemic, this project could be conducted physically. Then, we have the Inter-Class Quiz, which is also a quiz conducted for the student population within school from Grades 6 – 11 where the best class from each Grade will be awarded as champions. The quizzers also publish a Model Paper for the General Test for the G.C.E. A/L students of each year in order to increase their general knowledge.
