The Royal College Tamil Literary Association was founded in the year 1938, and it has been 83 successful years since inception; The Association still functions as one the oldest Language society in Reid Avenue.

Annual Inter School Literary Competitions
Kalai Vizha is one of the main projects of Royal College Tamil Literary Association which take place annually. This project will be organized to celebrate the 83rd year of our Association. Through this project, we hope to strengthen the bonds between students of today’s community and it will also help the students to understand and appreciate each other and the cultures of various ethnicities. Further, to award skilled young Royalists who have proved their literary skills through various categories of competitions. The TAMIL NAYAM 2021 souvenir will be published on this event to showcase the talents & abilities of Royalists by publishing their articles (poems, essays, short story and etc.) The Royal College Tamil Literary Association has planned to organize the Annual Inter School Competitions to promote Tamil Language by conducting the competition for student’s island wide. Winners at the Annual Inter School Competitions will be awarded at the 83rd Annual Kalai Vizha.
The main objective of the project ‘Sangamam’ is to create a platform for school students to display and recognize their talents. This project also aims to spread the legacy of Tamil Language and to increase the interest of the students towards it. The project ‘Culture Exchange’21’ mainly focuses on the unique Tamil Culture and Language that is practiced in their own country and to introduce the Sri Lankan Tamil culture and language in an international level among the Tamil spoken Countries. Furthermore, we have planned to carry out many other projects which would not only help Royalists but also students Island wide. The notable projects of the year would be the Annual Inter-grade Tamil Arivu Competitions which will be held virtually for the first time in the club’s history, Inter-grade competitions, Kavi’21, an all Island Inter-school oratory competition organized by the Language Avenue (Societies) of Royal College, Agaram a book donation campaign and finally release of Association’s first magazine. We hope to carry out our upcoming projects and events in a successful manner and help the College in mainly recognizing talents of young Royalists.
