The United Nations Club of Royal College which started in 1979 was one of the major clubs of Royal College from the start. The Objectives of the United National Club of Royal College are the objectives of the United Nations itself, being peacekeeping and security, human rights and economic development and humanitarian assistance.

For the year 2021 the United National Club has planned to carry out 11 projects in total but due to the current Covid-19 situation in the country a few of these projects will be carried out online.

The main projects for this year are Unity, Crave and Chairman’s Trophy. This project is carried out to bring in unity within the community. With the help of all five religious clubs in Royal College the United Nations Club will be sharing a few videos and posters to improve unity among the community. Crave is a fundraiser; an enticing virtual musical event featuring young and up-coming performers to collect the necessary funds for other community service projects. Chairman’s Trophy is an annual project which mainly focuses to improve the relationship between the clubs and the societies of Royal College. It’s basically a tap-rugger tournament where the winning club gets awarded with the Chairman’s Trophy. As the sub projects for the year 2021, the first project is the United Nations Awareness Programme which is an Awareness Program to all United Nations Clubs in Sri Lanka. Few members from the United Nations conducted a webinar to reach the United Nations Clubs in Sri Lanka to make sure they are on the right track.

Next is Dynamic Duos which is a video project of Famous Teams and Partners in almost all areas in the society speaking about what teamwork and unity means and how it can help the growth of people and the society. The green life project is a new initiative for this year where the United Nations Club will be touching up on some of the concerns in the world by sharing posters. ‘Pure it’ is an annual project carried out by the United Nations Club of Royal College to safeguard the health of the students by cleaning or replacing the filters of college. ‘Food Relief’ is an annual project carried out by the United Nations Club of Royal College helping out the needy by going around Colombo and providing them with a meal to fulfil our aim as a club.

Next up is the Renovation of the School Notice Board. The Notice Board is maintained by the United Nations Club of Royal College every year to share any important news or announcements. It has been decided to renovate the damaged notice boards of Royal College and bring them back to an operational condition. ‘Hope’ is annual project organized by the United Nations Club of Royal College to help out the Maharagama Cancer Hospital with their medicinal requirements. The final project for the year 0201 is  ‘Heal’ which is an annual project carried on by the United Nations Club of Royal College to help out the College Hostel by providing them with their necessary electronic equipment requirements
