SCHOOL WHERE OUR FATHERS LEARNT THE WAY BEFORE US
Our School was founded 1835 as Hill Street Academy with 30 students as a private Institution by Rev. Joseph Marsh. In 1836 Sir Robert Wilmot Horton, the Governor of Ceylon converted it as the Colombo Academy. In 1881 it was renamed as Royal College Colombo with the consent of Her Majesty Queen Victoria.
During past 180 years Royal College developed strength to strength. So many developments have taken place. It was not only limited physical development but, social, cultural, leadership, sports ect….One of the most interesting aspects in our history is harmonically co- existence of Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslims and Burgers as school song says Learnt of Books and Learnt of Men.
