The Royal College and Ananda College faced each other on the 9th and 10th of April 2021. Royal won the toss and elected to bat first with Ashen Gamage and Isivara Dissanayake opening the innings. Kavindu Pathirathne and Dasis Manchanayake put on a long-lasting, entertaining partnership of 113. Kavindu Pathirathne and Dasis Manchanayake were Royal’s top scorers with 100* and 67 respectively, while Nethin Panapitiya further added to Royal’s mammoth total of 386 for 6 dec. with a quick-fire of 63* off 69 deliveries.

Ananda College, Maradana commenced their innings trailing 386, at 11.10 a.m. on the second day of play. Anudha Jayaweera and Nushal Darmarathwa opened the Ananda innings putting on a mere partnership of 6 runs. Mahoshana Fernando and Shakthi Udara managed to scrape a partnership of 23 runs. Ananda Colleges top scorers were Saviru Bandara with 40 runs and Mahoshana Fernando with 20 runs. Uthum Dissanayake took 4 wickets while Dan Poddiwela took 3 wickets for a superb bowling performance by Royal College dismissing the Ananda team for a mere 88 leaving them to follow on trailing 298 runs.

Ananda College commenced their follow on innings which they managed to put on 169 for the loss of 9 wickets, with Saviru Bandara top-scoring for Ananda again with 66 off 71 deliveries.

Prashan Kalhara put on an exceptional performance with the ball securing 5 wickets for 49 runs in the 20 overs he bowled in the second innings with a match-bag of 7 wickets. Uthum Dissanayake also went home with a match-bag of 7 rockets at the end of day two’s play.

The match ended in a draw with the Royal College, Colombo securing a first innings win at the end of the second day.
