Elle is a traditional Sri Lankan bat-and-ball sport , with 16 players per side and a single-innings format.Modern games are typically limited to 30-ball matches. The playing field is approximately twice the size of a baseball field, and batters are allowed three strikes to get out, though there is no defined strike zone. If a batter runs a full circuit without being stopped, it’s termed a “run”.
At Royal College Colombo, Elle was introduced in 2004 by Viraj Hettiarachchi during the tenure of Principal Upali Gunasekara. Since its inception, the school has achieved notable success in circuit and zonal tournaments. The current coach is Mr. Gunawardhana. Elle at Royal College not only preserves a significant aspect of Sri Lankan cultural heritage but also provides students with opportunities to excel in a unique andĀ engagingĀ sport.
